Step-by-Step Filing Process
Step 1: Register on the Portal
Visit e-jagriti.gov.in and Sign Up. Select your role (Consumer / Advocate / Company). Fill in your name, mobile number, email, and address. Upload Identity Proof (Aadhaar / PAN).
Step 2: Choose the Commission
After login, go to Dashboard and click File a Case. Select Consumer Complaint and choose the appropriate commission based on your claim value.
Step 3: Fill in Complaint Details
Enter full details of the Complainant and Opposite Party. Write the Facts of the Case clearly. Enter the Relief Sought — what you want the commission to order.
Step 4: Upload Supporting Documents
- Bill / Invoice of the product or service
- Legal notice sent to Opposite Party (if any)
- Reply of Opposite Party (if received)
- Photographs, emails, or other evidence
- Identity proof
Step 5: Pay Court Fee Online
Use the fee calculator on the portal to determine the correct court fee. Pay using the integrated online payment gateway.
Step 6: Submit and Track Your Case
After submitting, you will receive a Filing Reference Number. Track your case at Case Status / History.
Important Points
- File within 2 years from the date the cause of action arose
- The Relief Sought must match the facts of the case
- Incorrect court fee can result in rejection
- All documents must be in PDF format
